[Tutorial] Automated Egg Farm

On this post (made ages ago), I showed you how to make the Egg Deployer, but now I have something else - a video. Check it out:

It's been a loooong time...

Ladies and gentlemen, I sincerely apologize for the delay since last post (of around SEVEN MONTHS!). Work was taking a lot of my free time and the few spare hours I had I spent playing with friends and recording some videos.

Me and Nipurr are taking a break from our survival world, so in the meantime me and two friends - S74R and Mike - are playing on a new world.

We'll be covering our new adventure in future posts.

For now, my sincere apologies.

NYAN NYAN NYAN NYAN SORRY!

It's been a REALLY long time since I last updated the blog.

That's because I've been REALLY busy with some personal stuff. But here I am, found some free time to post this to you, guys. I let the Creative server online for a few minutes for a friend of mine and when I come back - look what I saw.

Thanks, bro!

The Melon Farm

YUP! We found some melon seeds. Finally.

So here's how the design of it is so far.

We had to stop playing, so we didn't finish it.

I'll post some screenshots whenever it's ready.

Slimes? On my cactus farm?

Seems so. This little boy only gave me one slime ball, though.

That's enough for it's purpose: sticky-pistons.

My Room 3.0

I made some more changes to my room now.

But I still think that there's something lacking... but I have no idea what it is.

Oh, those creepers...

Today wasn't a good day for Nipur either.

Look at what a little creeper did to his "lair of epicness".

Not so epic now, eh?

Monday, February 20, 2012

The Grim Reaper made us a visit...

...and guess who he got? Not me. He got Nipur this time.

But he managed to recover everything.

I stole his XP, though. I needed it.

The "Kitchen" redesign

We needed a redesign for our "kitchen", because we wanted a brewing room.

So here's how it is now.

We got rid of those sixteen furnaces (I know, I know...) and instead of THAT many, we used only eight.

The two chests, even though they have always been empty, were still kept.

My Balcony

At first I thought: "HA! I'll make a room with a balcony, he'll stay with the first floor."

Turns out he made a room that is cooler than mine... I'll post screenshots later. Probably tomorrow.

He's watching you...

Pool

Finally, the pool was built!

We had this project since the beginning.

Here, a picture of the builder and the pool up there.

But you know what they say...

... POOL'S CLOSED!

[Off] Creative world download

As I promised, here is the Creative world (from the last posts) for download.

I put some signs in the world so you know what they're used for.

If you have any problems, ask in the comments.

[Off] The Inside of the Tower

So, as I promised, here's the inside of the Tower. I have no idea how long it took me to build, but I am using some mods on this Creative world, so it wasn't THAT long.

Just a reminder that this trap gives NO experience at all.

This is where the loot comes after the mobs are killed.

Since I built it, like a month ago, I got this all.

This lever is an incinerator. If you don't want the loot, just pull it.

This is how the mobs are killed. They're driven to this lava blade (there are actually four lava blades, each in a corner of the tower). The ladders will make the mobs want to go up, but the ceiling is only two blocks high, therefore they will be stuck and the items will not get lost.

This is one of the corners. Dark, eh? The mobs often die from fall damage, depending on which floor they spawned (six total). If they don't, the lava blades will take care of them.

This is the third time I see a Spider-Jockey in my entire Minecraft "life".

I lured him but he died from fall damage. Nothing special.

This skeleton wasn't so lucky. He didn't die since he spawned in the first floor.

And he gave me an arrow. There it goes to the collection point.

After a few more skeletons...

... this is what we got.

This World's download can be found in this post.

[Off] That Tower...

Since we only play at weekends and I work on weekdays, I often run out of content to post, therefore I thought I should post some of my creations of my Creative world.

This is a mob tower. Stay tuned, I'll show the inside of it tomorrow!

Too much work, only had time to post this little screenshot.

The Rage quit

We were super happy today because we found some more cows for our farm and a music disc.

But then the night came. We were trapped with around five cows on our back.

NiPur was the first one to get killed. He had food, but no time to heal. A skeleton took him down. I took as many items that dropped from his body as I could, but then a creeper blew me up.

We tried to get back to the place but we both lost our map in that adventure.

Around 8 tools (pickaxes, shovels), 3 weapons (swords, bows), around 120 arrows, around 60 bread, around 30 torches were lost. Not to mention the freaking MUSIC DISC! A MUSIC DISC!

We know when it's time to stop. At least for today.

The Fireball

This "fireball" is made out of glowstone and netherrack, being netherrack only the top blocks that could hold up the fire.

I don't have any idea of how many blocks it took, but it took us one stack of arrows to get rid of a few of the Ghasts in the Nether.

Glad I did it...

Look at this little surprise we'd have had if I didn't change the... "doors" from cobble to glass.

FINALLY, A COW!

We have been playing for what? Two weeks?

Only now we were able to find some cows. We found four, but I accidentally dropped one in a pit.

I managed to drop them all in their... cell...

The Cactus Farm

Do you remember the Slime Farm? Well, never mind it. We didn't have any luck with it no more.

So, here's how it currently is. We're gonna use it for things that we can't put up there.

This is how it looks.

It's not very effective, but it doesn't really matter at the moment because we're only using it for some dyes to use on the wool to put on the entrance.

See these three pressure plates? Well, they light up the redstone torch at the door, so we don't need to go all the way inside to check for new blocks.

This is the torch:

Basically, cactus can't be placed when there are blocks directly by the side of them. Therefore, it is an auto-harvesting system.

It's pretty easy to be made, but if you guys want a tutorial, tell me. I'll be glad to make it.

Sorry...

Sorry about the slow posting, guys.

I've been through some heavy working lately, but I promise two posts for tomorrow, so check back tomorrow!

The Base 2.0! (Actually, 3.0)

This is the current view of the outside of the base. Front view.

It's actually 3.0 because we had it made out of dirt when we started, then we turned into cobble and finally improved to the way it is now. We might make even more changes, though.

This is the main entrance now. I'll fix this. First, I'll change the plates to the stone ones, so they can't be triggered by items falling on them.

A view looking into the base's interior.

View from inside, looking at the outside (duh). One issue that came through my mind was that monsters CAN trigger the pressure plates, therefore, they could go inside at anytime. But I took two hours of my... "spare"... time to work on a rather complex redstone system (don't even ask me how I did it, seriously, I have no idea).

It works like a key system: If this lever is pulled, the doors are permanently shut and will not be opened by ANY plates. If it is not pulled down (actually, right), the plates CAN open the door.

As I said, it took me two hours to figure this out. Shortly after that, I was closing the flooring with cobble and guess what happened? Yeah. A creeper. He blew up the ground near me. I lost a pressure plate and a few redstone wires. I had to work for more ten minutes to fix the wiring.

I rage-quit for ten minutes, then I fixed it.

Our Explored Area

Since we started we tried to keep ourselves in the same place (for our own good, because of creepers and other monsters).

We started playing when the in-game time was already, since we had some communication issues between us, because of the microphones, so we had to hurry and find shelter. We spent a night in the middle of a little cave, made by ourselves, while mining some coal and cobble.

We crafted this map shortly after we got all the resources needed.

We didn't explore much of our surroundings, but I'm sure that on more than 3 quadrillion blocks that each Minecraft world has, it would take a loooooooong time.

And I'm not even kidding. Minecraft indeed has more than 3 quadrillion blocks - that would be like EIGHT TIMES EARTH's SIZE! Do you have any idea how big it is?

You could walk in a straight line for MORE THAN FIVE YEARS!

Don't believe me?

Check it for yourself. Click HERE to see it.

Damn...

Hey guys,

Sorry but I couldn't post anything today. I had a few personal problems and I'm working on them.

But don't worry, I promise two posts tomorrow! Well, actually today. It's past midnight here, so... Better saying - I promise TWO POSTS ON FRIDAY. Yeah, that's better indeed.

Wait for them!

[Tutorial] The Egg Deployer

OK, so as I promised, I'm showing you how to make the egg farm.

It's simple, here's a list of things you need:

- Cobblestone
- Four water buckets (two, if you know how to use them properly)
- Four signs
- Around two stacks of eggs (thirty-two eggs)
- Six ladders

Keep in mind that the machine will only show some results after thirty-minutes, since that's the time it takes for the chicken to grow up and lay eggs, nine minutes and seven minutes, respectively.

Let's get started. Make a shape like this:

Those two blocks will be used to drive the eggs to the collecting point.

Add more five layers of cobble to it, that way it'll have six layers total. Make sure to close it all now, leave only the first level with those two blocks opened.

Use the ladders on the back of it (or on the sides) to climb up, you'll need it.

Now add the four signs to the cobble walls. Doesn't matter which side you do it, as long as they're all the same level.

Next, put on the water. I'd recommend putting it on one corner and then on the opposite corner, but do as you want.

See this? Well, this water is endless. Use your buckets again and grab the water back. Now you have two filled buckets again. I call that a profit already.

Now you can get out of there. Just dig the floor out, nothing should be lost. But, of course, replace the blocks so it will be flattened.

We need to close it. You can do it two ways:

First one, using four trapdoors...

...or the second one, using only one trapdoor and three cobble blocks.

Now comes in the tricky part: spawning the chicken.

Get the stack of eggs and keep hitting a torch with it. This may be tricky, so I would advise you to put a sort of "dirt wall" around you, so neither you nor the chicken would be able to escape.

Once every eggs are spawned, you can go down.

The chickens will always follow the light, that's the reason of the torches. One or two may escape and will get lost, but don't worry - it's a chance in one million (it varies on the amount of chickens spawned there!)

Just make the channel and everything is done! Put two more buckets of water directly into the corners of the tower, like this:

Yeah, I know. Messy. Put some more cobble there. Seriously.

Cover it up.

There you are! Simple, isn't it?
